V Trace L9

Improved biological availability through Fe-HEEDTA

The primary goal of continuous use of trace elements in biogas plants is to ensure optimal nutrient supply for the various microorganisms in the fermenter, as overdosing does not lead to any increase in biogas yield.

Safety surcharges due to low bioavailability should also be avoided.

It is not the measurable content of essential trace elements in the fermenter that is decisive for the supply of microorganisms, but rather the biological availability of the chosen binding forms. Trace elements in chelated form (organometallic complexes) prove to be the right choice here.

For optimal stability of the mixture and the best possible bioavailability, the composition of the different chelates is important. Recent scientific findings show a superior effect through the use of Fe-HEEDTA*.

Improved biological availability through Fe-HEEDTA

HEEDTA chelates are able to additionally stabilise other chelates as well as the non-complexable trace elements selenium and molybdenum, thereby making them more biologically available.

This “double complexation” prevents precipitation caused by sulfur compounds or fatty acids without reducing availability for microorganisms.

* HEEDTA: N-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine-N,N′,N′-triacetic acid

FAQs about V Trace L9

V-Trace is characterised by the outstanding availability of trace elements for the biogas process. It is not the measurable content of essential trace elements in the fermenter that is decisive for the supply of microorganisms, but rather the biological availability of the chosen binding forms. Trace elements in chelated form (organometallic complexes) are the right choice here.

This “double complexation” prevents precipitation caused by sulfur compounds or fatty acids without reducing availability for microorganisms.
V-Trace is suitable for all biogas plants, whether they are fed with conventional energy crops or manure-dominated substrates. The use of trace elements is worthwhile in almost all biogas plants. The best indicator is the acid pattern of the fermenter content. An analysis of trace element levels in the fermenter is only partially meaningful but can help in decision-making.
