Hydrogen sulfide – the invisible risk in the biogas process

During the anaerobic digestion of organic substrates in biogas plants, methane is produced along with hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). This toxic gas can cause severe odor issues and corrosion even at low concentrations. The problem often begins in the digester: if no action is taken early, H₂S levels in the raw gas can increase significantly. Subsequent removal is often costly and technically complex. For this reason, binding hydrogen sulfide directly at the source — in the digester — is the most effective strategy in biogas applications.

Iron hydroxide for biogas – the natural solution against hydrogen sulfide

OXIRED Bio 50 is a highly effective, natural mineral powder for biogas applications based on iron hydroxide (FeOOH) and iron oxide (Fe₂O₃), with an iron content of at least 50%.
