Important application notes

  • only cover dry, storable straw
  • we recommend placing straw bales on pallets for the bottom layer so that no material has ground contact
  • the fleece must always be installed tightly and at a 45° angle so that water can drain off freely. The UV stability of the product can be significantly affected by exposure to minerals and chemicals such as sulphate, chloride, copper, aluminium and various crop protection agents. This also includes environmental influences such as exhaust gases, acid rain and residues from different fuels.

The protec straw fleece 130 g/m² is used as a protective cover for straw bales. It shields the harvested material from weather influences such as rain, wind, and UV radiation, as well as from contamination like bird droppings. Thanks to its high tear resistance, it provides reliable protection during outdoor storage.
Compared to simple tarpaulins or nets, the protec straw fleece stands out due to its high mechanical strength and UV stability. It is breathable, which reduces moisture buildup and the risk of mold formation underneath the cover. In addition, it is easy to handle and reusable over multiple seasons.
When applying the fleece, follow the installation instructions provided with the product. The fleece should be stretched tightly over the bales with an incline of approximately 45° to allow rainwater to drain off easily. It is important to only cover dry, storable material. Ideally, the bottom layer of bales should be placed on pallets or a similar base to avoid ground contact.
The fleece is UV-stable for at least 5 years and can be used over multiple seasons when handled properly. The actual lifespan may vary depending on environmental conditions and usage.
