Weatherproof holder with mounted flow meter (2 - 40 l)
The robust holder can be mounted variably on the machine – ideally within the machine operator's field of view. The handle should point upwards.
12-volt diaphragm pump
The pump is integrated into the frame. It has a pressure switch and switches off in the event of overpressure to prevent damage.
with 10 A fuse - In the event of an overload or short circuit, a fuse protects the device and the cables. It can be easily replaced by unscrewing the plastic cover.
Cup filter
The cup filter retains foreign particles so that the nozzles don't clog.
Easy to clean - unscrew the filter cup and rinse it, or blow it out with compressed air.
Control valve
The desired flow rate can be preset using the handwheel. The pump runs continuously at full power; excess silage additive solution is returned via the control valve to the tank.
Cleaning & disinfection
All components and lines should be thoroughly cleaned with water after every use and, if necessary, disinfected, to remove silage additive residues and to prevent the formation of a biofilm.
To avoid damaging the device, it should not be stored for an extended period with disinfectant solution left inside.
After disinfecting, rinse the device, including all components, twice with clear water.
Completely empty the vario flex and its attachments after the season and store it frost-free to prevent frost damage.
Dosage
Calculation of the flow rate / examples
- Determine/estimate silage output (t/h) (example: 25 t/h)
- Determine quantity of silage additive mixed (ml/t) (example: 150 ml/t) (example calculation flow rate: 25 t/h x 150 ml = 3.75 l/h)
- Select suitable nozzles, set the mark on the flow meter (example: 3.75 l)
- Check: run the appliance with water for 20 min, collect the water (example: [3.75 l / 60 min = 0.0625 l/min] x 20 min = 1.25 l water in the bucket)
- Estimate the tonnage to be treated (example: 400 t) and calculate the required silage additive solution: (example: 400 t x 150 ml/t = 60 l silage additive solution) (The tank holds 20 l, so a total of 3 tank fillings are required.)

How is the flow rate set?
The nozzle specifications are the minimum and maximum – not the optimum. Naturally, the spray pattern is different when the flow rate is lower: at 2 l/h significantly less liquid passes through the nozzle than at 10 l/h – similar to the jet from a tap: the more the water is turned on, the "harder" the jet, and at a very low setting it just drips.
IMPORTANT: bacteria do NOT have legs!
This means they need moisture in order to spread. That's why, especially with dry material, the flow rate – and therefore the water content – can be increased. The dosage must then be adjusted according to the dilution ratio of the silage additive.
The nozzles keep dripping
There may be air in the system. To remove it, please proceed as follows:
1. Fill the tank: fill the tank completely with water.
2. Remove the nozzles: take off the nozzles to allow unobstructed flow.
3. Bleed the pump: run the pump at full power ("wide open") until no more air bubbles escape and only water flows.
The system draws in air even on first start-up?
For delivery, the doser is only hand-tightened. Please check whether anything has come loose during transport.
