The yeast count had dropped to a negligible 27 CFU, while the untreated silage from the same field showed 33,333 CFU, which in itself is also a good value. The content of hard-to-digest fibers (ADF) was already significantly lower in the treated bales compared to the untreated ones after 9 days of ensiling. Due to the rapid fermentation, many nutrients were preserved during the first days. The proportion of hard-to-digest fibers remained roughly stable. In the untreated bales, a greater amount of nutrients was lost. Since the ADF fraction was not broken down, its relative proportion increased, which in turn reduced overall digestibility.

The good results with SiloSolve FC were achieved despite the fact that the bales, due to a roughly 5% higher dry matter content, were about 15% more difficult to compact.

In a practical trial with round bale silage (grass, 39% DM), the bales treated with SiloSolve FC showed better aerobic stability after 60 days.
